December: Closing the Year Gently (Without Burning Yourself Out)
As we reach the end of the year — and for many of us, the end of a bigger cycle — it’s normal to feel tender, tired, reflective, or overstimulated. December can be beautiful… but it can also be a lot.
If your digestion flares when you’re stressed, if your sleep becomes light, or if your hormones feel more reactive this time of year, that’s not weakness — it’s your body asking for a softer finish.
Here are a few gentle ways to support your nervous system, gut and hormones over the festive season — without perfection or pressure.
1) Keep meals simple (especially on busy days)
When life is full, your body does best with “easy digestion” meals:
protein + cooked veg + healthy fat + a simple carb.
This reduces blood sugar swings and helps your gut stay calmer.
2) Start the day “steady”
A protein-based breakfast (even if it’s small) helps reduce anxiety, cravings, and the afternoon crash.
3) Walk after meals (even 5–10 minutes)
This is one of the simplest ways to support digestion and blood sugar — and to reset your nervous system.
4) Choose one boundary that protects your energy
This might be leaving events earlier, saying no to one invitation, or having a quiet morning after a big day. Boundaries are nervous system medicine.
5) Support digestion with warmth
Warm meals, herbal teas (peppermint/ginger), slower eating, and less iced drinks can make a huge difference if you’re prone to bloating.
6) Give your body a “mineral moment”
Epsom salt baths/foot soaks, magnesium support (if appropriate), and mineral-rich foods can help you feel calmer and sleep more deeply.
7) Release the year emotionally too
December is a beautiful time to let go — not just of clutter, but of emotional weight. My Body Balance Treatments - Nervous System Rest sessions can support the body to release what it’s been holding so you begin the new year feeling lighter.
A gentle reminder
You don’t have to “fix everything” in December. Sometimes the most healing thing is to finish the year softly.
And if you know your body is depleted, reactive, or running on stress… January is the perfect time to reassess and rebuild with a plan that actually suits your body.
I'm taking time off from Saturday 20th December, 2025 and reopening my clinic on Monday 5th January, 2026. I'm looking forward to finishing this year gently.
Bookings are open for the next couple of weeks and also for January.
Yours in health and wellness,
